Just a sampling of the many Project Linus events in 2022 that we host here at PLACE

(Project Linus Activity Center Extraordinaire).

January 22 drop off

Despite temperatures in the teens, our dedicated volunteers still braved the cold.
Thank you to all of those who dropped off blankets!

Blankets to Ukraine

The Elks on South Park Road were packing a shipping container of items needed by Ukrainians in Polish refugee camps. South Hills Movers supplied the container. Once it is filled, South Hills Movers is driving it to New York and it will be sent to Poland. They have taken care of all the logistics. Because of their generosity, we were able to bag and deliver to the Elks  354 blankets and 50 children's hats, plus a few pillowcases.

April 2 Drop Off

Thank you to everyone who dropped off blankets and picked up books for the Book/Blanket initiative for the Braddock Day Care Center!

 Stash Buster in July

We had a nice turn out for our first Stash Busting Saturday!  With the fabric we gave away we asked that it be used to make a Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt.  Can't wait to see what our talented quilters make.  Thank you to Bobbie and the other volunteers who worked hard to make this event possible!

For three days in August, volunteers from the Pittsburgh Project Linus Chapter manned a
table at the Pittsburgh Fiber Festival, held at a local hotel. They used their skills to
wind yarn for attendees, provided information about Project Linus and raffled off several
baskets containing specialty yarns.

What a donation!

Here are pictures of a donation that was dropped off at The PLACE.

Fall bike ride

On a recent crisp, Fall day, our chapter provided the blankets for one of Always B Smiling's adaptive bike program events.  Looks like so much fun!!

Our Chapter had a booth at the 18th annual Handmade Arcade's 2022 Holiday Market.  Volunteers spent a busy day explaining the mission of Project Linus, holding a yarn basket raffle and teaching interested attendees how to crochet edges on fleece.
