Just a sampling of the many Project Linus events in 2024 that we host here at PLACE

(Project Linus Activity Center Extraordinaire).

Month of March

There are always requests for crocheting classes so .... Saturday, March 16 we had a Linus Learner class on how to crochet a corner-to-corner blanket, how to crochet an edge on the corner to corner blanket and how to crochet a variety of edges on fleece fabric.

KINDNESS makes the world a better place!
Picture
The 2nd Grade students and teachers at South Park Elementary Center are spreading kindness to others with the blankets they made for their Kindness Project.  They purchased fleece fabric which we then prepped for their group.  It ended up being 75-80 pieces ready for the students to transform into warm, comforting blankets for needy area children!

What an amazing delivery!

BNY Mellon

Community Partnership Day I
BNY Mellon Community Service Day at Project Linus.  A total of 20 employees volunteered for a full work day helping our chapter. They ironed and cut fabric, wound yarn, made blankets and helped with some clerical tasks. They always are very productive and a fun group!!

Once again this year volunteers from the Pittsburgh Project Linus Chapter manned a table at the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival, held at a local hotel. They used their skills to wind yarn for attendees, provided  information about Project Linus and raffled off several baskets containing specialty yarns.

In the Community Room our volunteers also taught interested attendees how to crochet edges on fleece.

In September, we held a Kaye Wood 6-hour Quilt Class and had a great turn out!
